California is on fire again, something that has, sadly, become almost routine.
Multiple wildfires are raging across the state, the largest of which – the Camp Fire – has already wiped out an entire town and has been identified as the most destructive fire in California history.
People have lost homes, businesses, possessions, and 31 have lost their lives. The devastation is mind-boggling.
But as thousands of people evacuate across the state, there are others who run toward the fires. These heroic firefighters and police officers leave their families and forgo sleep, food, and comfort to battle the blazes and protect homes and lives.
Fieri decided to put his skills to good use and show his appreciation to the hardworking firefighters and law enforcement officials by serving up some hot meals.
A post on the Butte County Sheriff’s Office’s Twitter page shows Fieri, along with several other volunteers, passing out meals at the law enforcement staging area at Butte College.
The home-cooked meals included pulled pork and several tasty sides.
After so many long, disheartening days, Fieri’s kind act is helping to lift the spirits of the brave men and women who are on the front lines fighting the fires and keeping their communities safe.
“Thank you so much Guy for filling our bellies and lifting our spirits,” the Twitter post reads.
This is not the first time Fieri has done something like this. In July, he teamed up with chef José Andrés to feed emergency crews and evacuees in Redding, California, during the Carr Fire. Their temporary kitchen served up 5,000 meals a day!
Heroes come in all forms and we know that, to these firefighters and law enforcement personnel, Guy Fieri is a true hero.
Are you glad to see Guy Fieri using his time and resources to serve these first responders? Then share it!
